Millennia TCL-2 – J-FET & Tube Tone With Stellar Sonics

Millennia TCL-2

Reg. $299 | Now Only $99 | Save 67%

Millennia TCL-2 delivers the stellar, transparent sonics of the beloved Millennia Twincom in plugin form. The original hardware Twincom features Millennia’s “Twin Topology” technology, which gives users the ability to select either a full tube, or full J-FET/solid-state signal path. Both the complete tube and solid-state signal paths have been faithfully modeled in the plugin version. In addition, the plugin version provides the ability to process Mid (M) and Side (S) information separately, as well as a Dry / Wet signal control for each individual channel.

The plugin version of the TCL-2 captures the tone of both of these circuit paths, bringing the Millennia sound to the DAW-based producer/engineer. From the transformer-less signal path, to the lower, tighter gain and threshold structure, to its unique single amplifier design, every aspect of the original hardware has been faithfully emulated in the plugin version.

For the producer/mixer/engineer, the TCL-2 can be used for everything from ultra transparent peak control to some pretty crazy, stomped on and pumping compression effects. Mastering Engineers will love the precise control of compression parameters, the M/S processing capabilities and, above all, the stellar sonics.

Brainworx bx_XL V2

Brainworx bx_XL V2

Reg. $329 | Now Only $89 | Save 73%

Brainworx developed the bx_XL V2 to provide mastering engineers with the ability to deliver the loud mixes record labels demand without squashing the life out of the mix. bx_XL V2 uses M/S technology taken from their “modern classic” bx_digital V2 to convert stereo signals into M (mid / sum) and S (side / difference) signals. By splitting the M channel into 2 bands (high & low), you can limit and level control 3 individual channels (side, mid high, & mid low) to increase loudness while drastically improving the clarity of your stereo mixes— with far fewer distortion artifacts and much more punch than conventional two-channel limiters.

The Crossover Frequency slider determines the highest frequency affected by the mid low section. Use it to separate the kick drum so you can limit it differently from the rest of your mid signal. This is extremely useful for mixes that require powerful bottom end such as dance, rap, techno and rock.

After the 3 channels of bx_XL V2 have been mixed back into a stereo signal, an additional brick wall peak stop limiter offers an adjustable master out level. That’s 4 stages (or 5 channels…) of pro limiter for the ultimate loud and clear stereo mix!

Brainworx bx_XL V2 also includes a 3-band “psycho-acoustic” loudness maximizer, and a host of detailed Level meters, making it a sophisticated dynamics & loudness control system second to none.

The bx_XL V2 is designed to be the final plugin on the stereo master buss, making it the ideal companion to Brainworx’s bx_limiter plugin, which is designed for sub-groups and stems. However, you may find situations where the bx_XL V2, with its multiple limiting stages and other advanced features, is the right choice for stems and busses.

elysia nvelope

elysia nvelope

Reg. $199 | Now Only $49 | Save 75%

The original nvelope hardware is a powerful dynamics processor capable of making subtle or drastic changes to a sound by providing control over its attack and sustain characteristics. This is extremely useful for reshaping all sorts of individual tones, and is a wonderful tool in any mixing situation as well. Designed by Ruben Tilgner, whose dynamic processor designs have revolutionized the industry, the nvelope is really three products in one: in Full Range Mode it’s a powerful transient shaping tool, in Dual Band Mode it’s a frequency-based dynamics tool and in EQ Mode, it’s a pristine high and low shelf equalizer.

The elysia nvelope takes dynamic transient shaping to the next level with innovative features like the ability to apply transient control by frequency when using Dual Band mode. In the simplified Full Range mode, a sidechain filter is added for the Attack parameter so you can adjust the influence of low frequencies when shaping impulses. Shelf EQ mode allows for a wide spectrum of high or low band coloration. Adding a second instantiation of an nvelope in Shelf EQ mode can be used to sweeten sounds already treated with one of the impulse shaping modes. The nvelope operates independently of the specific level of a signal, and (unlike with compressors) you do not have to spend a lot of time trying to balance a set of complex controls to quickly get the results you seek.

The nvelope can change the character of a sound by altering its impulse structure, giving you direct control over the envelope of a signal by shaping its attack and sustain intensity.

For example, drum tracks can be made to sound more aggressive and punchy by accenting the attack, or tones that are already overly aggressive can be easily tamed.

The nvelope can also be used to adjust the sustain of a sound, offering control over room sound and space. An instrument or a reverb tail can sound tighter by reducing its sustain, or can gain more depth/make a signal sound longer by increasing it.

Brainworx bx_limiter

Brainworx bx_limiter

Reg. $160 | Now Only $69 | Save 57%

To get your mixes to come out of the computer “loud & proud” but grooving and without unwanted distortion, it is necessary to cut off peaks and transients on all channels and stems (i.e., grouped or summed audio channels). Any pro will tell you: ”Don´t just limit on the master bus!”

Brainworx designed the bx_limiter to be used on multiple busses to smooth things out and glue them together prior to running through a full blown mastering limiter, like the Brainworx bx_XL V2.

The “Channel Link” knob is a unique and powerful feature that allows you to blend between “Linked” mode where both channels are limited when the threshold is exceeded on either channel, and “Off” where only the channel on which the threshold was exceeded is limited. If, for example, you set the blend control at 50% and a signal exceeds the threshold only on the right channel, the gain on the left channel will be reduced by half as much as the right. This creates some powerful options to maximize loudness while maintaining an even sounding mix.

Here are some recommended uses of the bx_limiter:

  • Traditional defeating of peaks
Simply lower the Threshold to stop peaks at a defined level.
  • Maximizing the Output level
Just boost Gain until the output level hits 0dB.
  • Loudness Maximizing
Add that extra dB of perceived loudness using the XL saturation.
  • Manage Stereo Material
Got cymbal crashes in one channel that are too hot? Dial the Channel Link knob all the way to “Off” to allow the limiter to grab just the peak on that channel and then dial it back towards “Link” until you achieve the desired balance between limiting the cymbal crash and relative channel levels
  • Sound Shaping / Extreme Effects
Drive signals or stems (i.e., grouped audio signals) into the limiter and saturate heavily without affecting your stem levels.
  • Parallel Dynamics & Saturation
Overdo the settings of the limiter and saturation effect and blend the original signal with the effected sound to create vintage drum & vocal sounds or special effects.
