Audio-Technica to hold presentations from Industry Veterans at NAB

This year at NAB, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (April 8-10, 2013), Audio-Technica’s booth C1711 will host five 30-minute audio instructional sessions throughout the day.

Dr. Fred Ginsburg, renowned industry veteran and specialist in production sound recording for motion pictures and video, will conduct two sessions each day. The first session will focus on microphone techniques and applications used for episodic television with a focus on multi-track recording, and the second session will be about techniques for rigging and attaching lavalier microphones to actors for film and video production.

EARS and SAE presents an interactive and educational screening of Sound City

Engineering And Recording Society of Chicago in partnership with SAE Institute Chicago is pleased to present a screening of Dave Grohl’s Sound City, a documentary the little-known recording studio which housed a unique recording console with a reputation for getting some of the best drum sounds ever recorded. The event wil be held on Tuesday, march 26th, at SAE Chicago theatre located at 820 North Orleans Street, Chicago, IL 60610.

Alan Parsons hosts Recording Master Classes in Vegas and Nashville in February

Alan Parsons has announced two new Master Class Training Sessions to be held at top studios in Las Vegas (Studio At The Palms on Feb 1st and 2nd) and Nashville (Ocean Way on Feb 11th and 12th).

In keeping with the tradition of these popular training workshops – previous events have been held in Los Angeles, Toronto, Bogota, and Buenos Aires – Alan Parsons has given each event its own unique theme: Vegas is titled “Iconic Instrumentals” and looks at the creation of music suitable for live music productions or international sporting events. The Vegas event also features a special section on Surround 5.1 mixing, for which Alan is rightly renowned, and for which he was Grammy Nominated in 2007.

Free Melodyne tutorials on vocals, MIDI and more

Celemony shows how easy it is with Melodyne to control the volume of singing on a note-by-note basis, thereby sparing yourself a certain amount of fader automation and allowing you to control a subsequent compressor more efficiently. How to further enhance vocals through the targeted editing of sibilants and consonants is the subject of the second film.

Other new Melodyne tutorials illustrate how to double and replace sounds with Audio-to-MIDI, how to quickly adjust loops to the song tempo, and how to perform phase-locked editing of instruments recorded on different tracks using two microphones.
